Barley Buzz

Posted on 10 July 2020

It’ll take more than rain to dampen our spirits!

While it may be raining outside, in Barley View we’ve been keeping busy with baking, art and sports activities!

Although the rain is pouring down day in day out over Whitworth and the sky is a constant grey, in Barley View the atmosphere has been quite different.

Residents have been brightening the place up with beautiful drawings and colourings of flowers, filling the air with the smell of baking and tasty treats and the uproarious sounds of good sporting spirit.

Also, we continue to play host to the Cotton Shed Theatre Company every fortnight. The group entertain us all by singing and dancing in the field behind Barley View – always a popular event with all of our staff and residents.

In other news, we eagerly anticipate the arrival of our summer house which is currently being built and we expect delivery within the next fortnight. We can’t wait to welcome families back, all be it, in a safe and socially distanced fashion. We’ll keep everyone up to date on the progress of the summer house as the build progresses.

From next week, we will be facilitating weekly testing of all staff and monthly testing of residents for COVID-19. This will help us continue to be proactive in identifying any risks and allow us to deal with these swiftly to ensure we maintain our incredible record of being COVID-19 free.

Yesterday, we said goodbye and good luck to our cook, Tracy, who is moving on to further her career and fulfil her dreams of working with the homeless. What a gem she is! We wish you all the best in your future endeavours Tracy!

We’ll be back next week with another update from what will undoubtedly be another busy week at Barley View. So, keep your eyes peeled for the next instalment of Barley Buzz.
