We will be pausing all new non-symptomatic regular testing of staff and residents in accordance with government guidance, until the government provides further replacement deliveries of test kits and advises that retesting can start.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock has advised all care homes to stop using coronavirus testing kits produced by Randox after safety problems were identified. The kits are sent direct to care homes, including Barley View, as well as direct to members of the public, after which they are delivered back to Randox so swabs can be analysed.
The government has yet to share details of the problem. We can however confirm that our service has had no issues with the safety of the swabs to date.
On Thursday Mr Hancock told MPs: ‘We’ve identified some swabs that are not up to the usual high standard that we expect, and we’ll be carrying out further testing of this batch as a precautionary measure.’
Our residents have been busy this week baking, painting, craft flowers, quizzes, singing, ball games and dancing. (phew)
We are pleased to confirm that our Summer House has a delivery date for next week! Gareth, our handyman, is on standby to build the Summer House and we will be in touch with all families when we are ready to book in visits. This is likely to be week commencing 27th July.
